Jazz
Man Kenny G has been jazzing it up since the mid-1980s. Born
Kenny Gorelick in Seattle, Washington. He began playing saxophone
in High School. At age 17, he performed his first professional
gig as a member of the Barry White’s Love Unlimited
Orchestra. Kenny G regularly performed with artists including:
Johnny Mathis, The Spinners and Liberace. In 1979, he joined
the Jeff Lorber’s Jazz Fushion Band. After that, the
Arista Label released his self-titled debut in 1982. This
album featured Kenny G on Synthesizer, Flute, both Tenor and
Soprano Sax and Minimoog Synthesizer. Kenny G’s platinum
album, “G-Force” and “Gravity” helped
to build Kenny G’s foundation among R&B (Rythum
& Blues) and jazz audiences. It was 1986's Album “Duotones”
that won him mainstream acceptance. This Album sold 5 million
copies. Other releases include: “Silhouette” 1988,
“Kenny G Live” 1989, “Breathless”
1992 which sold 12 million copies in the United States and
3 million overseas. Next, a Holiday Album: “Miracles”
1994 which sold 13 million copies which set a record as the
best selling Christmas Album. The “Jazz Man” continued
to produce albums at a rapid rate: “The Moment”
1996, “Greatest Hits” Album 1997, “Faith:
A Holdiday Album” and “Classics In The Key Of
G” 1999. Kenny G decided to spend much of the years
2003 and 2004 with his family and playing golf. He also spent
time flying his own seaplane as well as composing and recording
in his own state-of-the-art studio, Studio G. Early in 2005
Kenny G came out with “At Last The Duets Album”.
The artists performing with Kenny G include: Yolanda Adams,
Burt Bacharach, David Benoit, Earth-Wind & Fire, Daryl
Hall, Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Brian McKnight, Richard Marx,
David Sanborn, Arturo Sandoval and Barbara Streisand. KEEP
